Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Mrs. Lola Akande, has reiterated the State Government’s total commitment to embark on multi-faceted intervention programmes that will alleviate the sufferings  of unemployed people in the state, particularly youths and women, in its bid to support Federal Government’s efforts to reduce  the level of poverty and socio-economic vulnerability.

Akande made this statement at an Interactive Workshop organized by the State Government in collaboration with National Social Investment Office, Abuja for N- Power Volunteer Corps and State Institutional Partners at the Secretariat Alausa, Ikeja.

The Commissioner stated that the Akinwunmi Ambode administration has put in place lofty strategies and initiatives such as the establishment of the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Agric Youth Employment Scheme (Agric-YES), Neighborhood Safety Corp, Cleaner Lagos Scheme, Skill Acquisition Centres and Agricultural Training programmes for female farmers amongst others.

She urged the N-Power beneficiaries to be diligent and ensure excellence in their jobs while those in the Agriculture sector were advised to strive to become self-reliant by owning their own farms at the end of the scheme.

The Senior Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Mr. Afolabi Imoukhuede, Leader of the N- Power Monitoring Team appreciated the State Government, particularly the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation for effective coordination and implementation of the scheme.

The event was attended by members of the State House of Assembly and other high-ranking civil servants.
