The expansion of management system in all the public secondary schools in Oyo state has been described as the boost needed to revitalize the education sector and bring the state back fully to its pace setter status, Chairman , Governing Board, Community Secondary School, Onipe , Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan declared in Ibadan Wednesday.
Speaking while inaugurating the schools’ Governing Board, Olaosebikan stated that the “out of the box” education reforms of the state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi were already enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in the management of the schools with assurances of greater performances by the students.
Olaosebikan who made an on-the-spot donation of N250,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) for immediate rehabilitation of key structures in the school, noted that the novel management mechanism has strategically mobilized all the people of the state in participating in the running of the 628 secondary schools in the state.
His words: “the decentralization of management of schools, core of which is the Schools Governing Board is already enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in school administration guaranteeing better performances by the students.
“All the critical stakeholders, (old students, community leaders , religious leaders, philanthropists and others have been strategically challenged and mobilized to participate more in the running of the schools.
“With their participation and more interests and hands in the running of the schools, there is bound to be greater inputs which would lead to enhanced infrastructure, improved teaching, effective learning, superior monitoring and ultimately, better results and development in the sector.
“When we talk of thinking out of the box for solutions to challenges, the government of Oyo State has indeed thought out of the box with this innovative and workable school management system. The future of education in Oyo state is evidently bright.
“As pioneer members of the School Governing Board for Commercial Secondary School, Onipe, I want to congratulate all of us for being part of this great inventiveness, marking the beginning of a new era for the school. As your Chairman and Special Servant, I have decided to fully dedicate myself to the progress of the school and to see that it becomes a Model in terms of infrastructure and academic excellence in the state. I want to specially urge us all to be on the same page for the realization of this noble goal”.
