By Olusegun Lawrence The leadership of the National Assembly has lamented the inability of many Standing Committees to turn in their reports on the 2017 budget proposal in record time.
Consequently, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who spoke separately on the matter on Tuesday, have given the affected committees deadline to submit their reports.
Saraki said over 20 senate standing committees were yet to submit their reports on 2017 budget proposal thus, delaying quick passage by the Upper Chamber.
He therefore, directed the chairmen of the committees who are yet to present their reports to do so latest by Thursday, otherwise, the Appropriation Committee will submit report of the executive.
Speaking in the same vein, Speaker Yakubu Dogara, gave the affected committees in the Lower Chamber Friday deadline to turn in their reports.
Dogara said that there was urgent need for the House to conclude work on the 2017 Appropriation Bill.
