The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, has honoured the summon by the Senate.
He was summoned to appear before the Senate at plenary on Wednesday, to explain the rationale behind the planned Vehicle Duty Policy but could not honour it, saying he was bereaved.
Hameed Ali, a retired Army Colonel, however, called the bluff of the Senate when he turned up this morning (Thursday) by not wearing Customs uniform as directed by the Red Chamber.
The Senate had while debating the new vehicle duty policy described it as anti-Nigerian people, prompting the summoning of the Customs CG.
However, the Senators insisted he must appear at plenary in his full Customs regalia.
Ali, dressed in white caftan, arrived at the National Assembly in company of the Presidential Adviser on Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang.
They both headed straight to the office of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
