Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that accountability and a sense of inter-personal love are two important values that Nigerians must continue to uphold.
The former Vice President made this assertion in a statement issued on Monday by his media office in Abuja, congratulating Muslims in the country on the celebration of the Eid-il-Kabir festival.
He said that accountability would ensure the freeing of government resources for development to end joblessness, insecurity and pervasive economic hardship facing Nigerians.
According to the former Vice President, who is also the Turaki Adamawa, the celebration of the Ed-il-Kabir festival is a celebration of forthrightness of man to God, and also of the Almighty’s love to humanity.
“It is thus important for each and every one of us to evaluate our relationships and ensure that it complies with the values of accountability and love to one another; this is essentially what the celebration of Ed-il-Kabir festival entails,” Atiku said.
The statement added further that, “as we gather to celebrate with our friends and families, we must never forget our country in our prayers. Nigeria and Nigerians need love more than ever before in light of our current challenges; and therefore we must remain relentless in our prayers to God to bless our land with love and peace.”
