Governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose has congratulated Muslims in Ekiti, Nigeria and the world at large and indeed all Nigerians of different faiths on the celebration of yet another Eid-el Kabir sheduled for next Monday and Tuesday, urging all to adhere to the tenets of peace being preached by the Islamic faith which he said are that of perseverance, tolerance, peace and love for one another.
Citing the Holy Quran: 2, 208, which says: ” O you who believe enter absolutely into peace (Islam), do not follow in the footsteps of Satan. He is an outright enemy to you”, Fayose said the word Islam itself is derived from the word meaning “peace” in Arabic. And that Islam is a religion revealed to mankind with the intention of presenting a peaceful life where the infinite compassion and mercy of God manifest on earth.
The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, (CPS), Mr. Idowu Adelusi made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, yesterday, also urged all Muslims in Ekiti to ensure that they adhere to these tenets of the peaceful religion Islam and live in peace with one another, regarding everyone that come their way as brothers and sisters.
” We are all one another’s brother’s keeper and so we should leave peacefully, tolerate one another and most of all persevere in this era of economic recession which i’m sure will be shortlived.”
Governor Fayose who equally enjoined Muslims and all Ekiti people to extend the same love gesture to his government by praying for and supporting him, urged Nigerians at large to pray for the government of President Mohammadu Buhari and his team for God to give them the inspiration, wisdom and knowledge to lead the country and take her out of the current woods of economic recession into desired eldorado.
“At this season of the celebration of God’s gift and revelation of the peaceful religion of Islam, we should love one another, persevere in the face of biting economic situation and pray for God’s wisdom, inspiration and knowledge for our leaders to lead us well and take our dear state and the country at large to greater heights in all ramifications. I want to assure you Ekiti people and Nigerians as a whole that our state and dear country will be great again, we will only tarry awhile in this hostile economy but very soon we will emerge victorious and smile. So, let’s allow peace, love, perseverance and tolerance to prevail,” the governor said.
