Operatives of Lagos State Police Command have arrested a man for allegedly beating and assaulting her daughter with hot iron thus, injuring her.
The man, Surakarta Idowu, 45 and a roadside mechanic was reported to the police by his neighbour.
Consequently, police arrested him at his residence, No. 8, Kayode Toyoso Street, off Liasu Road in Ikotun, Lagos.
The suspect allegedly burnt his five-year-old child with hot iron on the face and private part.
The girl’s offence was that she slipped and fell down and therefore couldn’t drop a waste in the latrine as directed by her father.
Rather than being sympathetic, Idowu grabbed the child and beat her mercilessly and in the process burnt her with hot iron on her face and private part.
Lagos State Police Boss, Fatai Owoseni, who confirmed the incident said the suspect is being interrogated at the command.
He also assured that he would be charged to court upon completion of interrogation.
The victim is receiving treatment at a hospital even as effort is on to locate her mother who left the man about two years ago.
