The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhil has been commended by the Senate of the State of Georgia in the United States of America for his consistent fight against fake drugs in Nigeria.
According to a statement signed by Abubakar Jimoh, Director Special Duties in the agency, the Georgian Senate resolution which was sponsored by Senator Donzella James was passed on 13th September 2013 in recognition and honour of Dr. Paul Orhill for “his many outstanding achievements and contributions to the world”.
The certificate of recognition was handed over to the NAFDAC Dg by Senator Steen Miles, at a colourful Award/investment Forum organized by the African Leadership Magazine in New York City, USA.
Senator Miles stated that the Georgia Senate noted that the Director-General “has been recognized by numerous organizations for his leadership and professional excellence and is applauded for his passionate work regarding the latest technology to fighting drug counterfeiting”.
Also honoured were the President of Seychelles for Excellent Leadership and was received by his Vice, Mr. Danny Faurer, as well as Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state and two others.
Seychelles Vice President Faure described Orhii as a man of intimidating academic credentials, standard bearer and role model for people of African descent and he maintained that the developmental strides recorded by Seychelles is a success story and pride for Africa.
Responding, Dr. Orhii dedicated the award to the hard working NAFDAC staff pointing out that the overwhelming support of President Goodluck Jonathan, Minister of Health, Prof. Christian Onyebuchi Chukwu and the team spirit of officers of the Agency contributed to his success.
