The Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL has again sent packing teams from the league as a result of failure to honour matches. Two teams, one each from the premier and pro cadres, have been expelled for breach of the rules and regulations.
Mr. Ayo Abdulrahaman, Executive Secretary of the NWFL, said on Tuesday that Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia from the Premier League and Cerezo Queens from the Pro League have lost their slots for failing to honour three matches in the current season.
Only last Wednesday, the NWFL expelled three teams, namely Tokas Queens, Capital City Doves and State House Queens. While Tokas Queens and City Doves campaigned in the Premier League, State House Queens played in the pro league.
In a letter conveying the decision of the Ad-hoc Committee of the NWFL and addressed to the NFF General Secretary, Abdulrahaman wrote: “I have the directive of the Ad-hoc Committee Chairman of the league to inform the Federation of Nasarawa Amazons FC and Cerezo Queens FC that have lost their slots due to falure to honour three (3) matches in the current season, and as supported by article 4.2 paragraphs 1 and 5 of the 2015/2016 Nigeria Women Football League rules, Nasarawa Amazons FC of the Premier League category and Cerezo Queens FC of the Pro League category are out of the league.”
