Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has inaugurated the state steering committee on Primary Health Care services.
Inaugurating the committee, Gov. Ganduje explained that the move is aimed at keying in into the Ward Health System, which is the current national strategic thrust for delivery of Primary Health Care delivery. In line with the strategy, each political ward in the state is expected to have at least one fully equipped and staffed Primary Health Care Center.
Governor Ganduje explained that the committee is saddled with the responsibility of enhancing health care services especially at the grassroots.
He added that part of the committee’s terms of reference is to meet on a monthly basis to review developments in respect of primary health care services delivery and submit its report to the state executive council for further action. It is also to review submissions from the technical working group on primary health care and advise government accordingly as well as draw up timeline and plan for work, for each Primary Health Center.
Speaking on behalf of members of the committee, Sarkin Yakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Aliyu Gaya promised to work diligently towards achieving the set goals.
