Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, may have settled for a German, Gernot Rohr, has the new Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles.
Baring last minute change of decision, the new coach, who is billed to arrive Nigeria on Sunday, is expected to be unveiled on Monday.
Aged 63, Gernot Rohr, had coached Girondins Bordeaux of Germany to the UEFA Cup final in 1996.
He had also managed Étoile Sportive du Sahel and Ligue 2 team FC Nantes.
At the nation team level, in 2010, Rohr was appointed coach of Gabon national football team.
He became manager of Niger national football team in September 2012 and left the job 2014.
He later managed Burkina Faso national football team in 2015 and was shortlisted for the Guinea national team job in July 2016.
A couple of weeks ago, the NFF named Salisu Yusuf as Home-based Super Eagles (Team B) Head Coach.
