African Independent Television (AIT) a member of the DAAR Communication Group has become the first free to air television network to be awarded broadcast right of the NPFL-LaLiga All-Star tour matches.

A select team made up of players from the Nigeria Professional Football League clubs are billed to play three international club friendly matches in three Spanish cities as part of the technical and commercial partnership between the League Management Company (LMC), operators of the NPFL and LaLiga.

The LMC  said it has reached an understanding with AIT, Nigeria’s first private 24 hour station for live broadcast of the matches which hold on August 10, 12 and 13. The first match, a pre-season friendly on August 10 will be against Valencia CF while the other two games against Malaga CF on August 12 and Atletico Madrid CF on the 13th will be part of the prestigious Carranza LaLiga World Club Tourney.

Shehu Dikko, the Chairman of LMC confirmed the development and said, “we are seeking windows through the broadcast media to take this historic matches available to the homes of every Nigerian football fans. The LMC and LaLiga is offering the broadcast feeds free to every television station that is interested”.

Dikko said discussions are also on-going with a number of other stations including Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Channels Television and Television Continental (TVC).

The NPFL All-Star team of 37 players based on current form and potentials shown as youth development players began camping in Abuja from July 11 with a final list of 22 to be released before their departure on August 8 by the coaching crew which has Salisu Yusuf as head.
