Frenchman Paul Le Guen, rejected top job to coach Nigeria’s Super Eagles because of the terms and conditions contained in the contractual agreement.
Le Guen, who was named on Monday by the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, as the new Super Eagles Technical Adviser, was reported early Tuesday, to have rejected the job.
A top French journalist, Herve Penot, on his verified Twitter handle, tweeted: “Paul le Guen will not go to Nigeria. Conditions not met to be coach. Nothing to do with the selection.”
Prompt News Online gathered that Le Guen turned down the offer because the contract states in part that he must be resident in Nigeria throughout the period of the contract should he take up the job.
He is also mandated to qualify Nigeria for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Our correspondent learnt that these two conditions did not go down well with the former Coach of Cameroon.
Le Guen, is also said not to be happy with the fact that the NFF drafted the contractual agreement without carrying along his agent.
Prompt News Online gatherered that a former French Coach and now adviser to the Olympic Lyon, Gerald Honulier, also advised Le Guen against accepting the offer.
Le Guen’s side has also reportedly pointed out that it was wrong for the NFF to have announced that he has been appointed rather than that he has been offered the job which is subject to his acceptance.
Also interviewed for the top Eagles job were Belgian tactician, Tom Saintfiet, and Nigeria’s Salisu Yusuf.
As at the time of filling this report, no official reaction from the NFF.
However, a top official of the Federation who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Prompt News Online that they were waiting for Le Guen, to formally reject the offer.
