Apparently not confident that senior officers in the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) would not sabotage him, the Acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has requested that about 30 AIGs be retired.
It was gathered that the Acting IGP has consequently written to President Muhammadu Buhari for approval.
The letter which was said to have been sent on Friday is now before the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
Idris was appointed acting IGP last week following the retirement of Mr. Solomon Arase, having attained the age of 60.
Prior to his elevation, Idris was a junior AIG and was less than a year on that rank.
As at July 2015, Idris was a Commissioner of Police in charge of Nasarawa State Command.
His appointment has thus, put seven Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) at a disadvantage as they would have to proceed on compulsory retirement.
