The Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) has taken over the Silverbird Group following its inability to pay back the N11 billion loan it obtained from Union Bank.

Prompt News Online recalls that Justice Cecilia Olatoregun-Ishola of the Federal High Court, Lagos, had on June 17 granted an interim orders allowing the Receiver/ Manager to take possession of the properties.
AMCON had earlier appointed Muiz Banire, SAN, as Receiver/Manager.
Consequent upon the order, Banire, on Thursday morning took possession of the properties located in Lagos. Abuja and Port Harcourt.
Some of the companies affected by the order are: The Silverbird Galleria, Silverbird Mall, Silverbird Communications, owners ofRythym 93.7 FM and Silverbird Television.
The Group also has interests in real estates and supermarkets.
