Two members of the House of Representatives, Tony Nwoye from Anambra and Udende Emmanuel from Benue states have dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
At plenary on Wednesday, they announced their defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Speaker Yakubu Dogara, read the separate letters sent to him by the defectors at plenary.
They cited division in the PDP as the reason for their defection.
Justifying their decision further, they said that PDP had broken into three factions under the leadership of Ahmed Makarfi, Ali Modu-Sheriff and Jerry Gana.
The lawmakers however said they do not want to belong to any of the three factions hence, their decision to defect to APC.
The Minority Leader, Leo Ogor (Delta-PDP) however objected to the content of the letter thus, causing uproar in the Chamber.
Ogor, raised a point of order to the effect that no recognized institution such as the courts had ruled that the party had been factionalized.
