NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi has praised members of the football ruling body’s Match Commissioners Appointment Committee for a good job thus far in the new season.
Speaking when the members visited him in his office on Thursday, Sanusi also charged the committee to stick to its resolve to reduce the number of match commissioners in the country.
“I believe you have been doing a great job because we have had very few complaints this season, and the season is now in Week 10. It means you are doing a wonderful job. I want to commend each and every member of this committee.
“It is also important to ensure that appointments take into cognizance all qualified persons, within the first half of the season. Thereafter, the usual yardsticks can be used to determine which persons would continue to get matches. This is all about fairness.”
In his remark, Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Babagana Kalli, assured that the committee would not go back on its resolve to reduce the number of match commissioners.
“We have over 270 match commissioners and this number is rather unwieldy. As we agreed before the start of the season, we are determined to see that the number comes down to 150. We would be using the examination written by the match commissioners and the reports they write after each match to reduce the number.”
Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi is the vice chairman of the committee while members are Professor Musa Garba Yakassai, Mr. A. B. Yabagi, Mrs Faith Irabor, Sir Emma Ochiagha, Prince D. I. Mbeazue and Mr. Mohammed Manzo. The secretary is Danlami Alanana.
