The Federal Ministry of Health in partnership with Sokoto State Government has concluded arrangement to hold 58th National Council on Health (NCH) meeting in the ancient city of Sokoto from 7thto 11th March, 2016.
National Council on Health is the highest decision making body in the health sector. All Commissioners of Health from 36 States of the Federation and Abuja (FCT) as well as all related Government Agencies, Parastatals, organized Health Private Sector, Donor Agencies, and Development Partners are expected to attend the meeting.
Issues expected to be discussed during the meeting include repositioning the Nigerian health system with a view to strengthen primary healthcare centres as a way of achieving universal health coverage.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, supported by the Minister of State for Health, Dr.Osagie Ehanire and Permanent Secretary, Dr. Amina Bello Shamaki is expected to chair the meeting.
Among the dignitaries expected to grace the opening ceremony at the occasion is the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
The theme of this year’s National Council on Health meeting is: “Universal Health Coverage: An Agenda for Change”.
