Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh, has been mocking top shots at the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, saying he beat them at their own game.
Oliseh, who spoke on Monday, said the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF Board was already contemplating sacking him.
According to him, it was more honourable for him to resign rather than waiting to be booted out.
Earlier in the day, NFF spokesperson, Ademola Olajire, had in a statement said “a few minutes before sending an email intimating the NFF of his resignation, Mr. Oliseh had written a mail to the NFF President about his trip across Europe to see players, which the NFF President had approved the day before.
“We find it strange though that, after complaints of non -payment, Mr. Oliseh waited to receive monies owed him before resigning.
“Two days before his resignation, he had passionately appealed that we unite as one force to fight the battle on the football field with the Egyptian national team. We had no idea he was selling a dummy.”
But, speaking from his base in Belgium, Oliseh said bosses at the NFF were actually planning to disengage him hence, the decision to play a fast one on them by resigning.
“I was actually preparing for my trip to London to meet with some of the players when the information got to me that the NFF were already talking to coaches that would replace me.
“So I opted to resign instead of waiting to be booted out.
“For me, leaving the post is honourable than being booted out.
“I wish the new coaches all the best in their new assignment,” Oliseh said.
Prompt News recalls that following Oliseh’s resignation last week Friday, the NFF swiftly appointed an interim coaching crew headed by Samson Siasia.
His assistants are: Emmanuel Amuneke, Yusuf while Aloy Agu will serve as Goalkeeper trainer.
