The General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, popularly known as Reverend King, is to die by hanging, the Supreme Court affirmed on Friday.
Delivering its judgement, the Apex Court said it found Rev King guilty as charged thus, upholding the judgment of the lower courts which had earlier sentenced him to death by hanging.
Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, who read the judgement held that King’s atrocities were like “what you see in a horror movie”.
Prompt News recalls that a Lagos High Court in a judgement delivered by Justice Joseph Oyewole, had found King guilty of murder and attempted murder.
His appeal was later dismissed by the Court of Appeal which affirmed the ruling of the High Court.
Ezeugo was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder.
