It is part of human nature to be sometimes good and sometimes the opposite. What that means in effect is that the innate nature of Man is good and he also has the capacity to err, after all to err is human. Goodness comes in varied colour: Knowing God, worshiping Him, Being Obedient, being Nice, Helping others etc. The best of goodness is the worship in Salat!
Erring also has degrees, it begins from making mistakes, forgetfully or foolishly doing what is Sinful or criminal to deliberately or calculatingly committing sinful or criminal acts.
Sinning could be against God and is only punishable by God alone, while Crime is committed against humanity it should be punished by the system: family, Community, Government and all these need be done having ensured through investigation seeking justice.
However, the task of reforming the society has always been taking up by Allah Himself. He has always been reforming His Religion and the morals of the people. He has sent Messengers, Prophets, etc and He has also sent Books along with some of His Servants.
In the course of reforming the society, the Prophets ensures they did not hate the Sinner, they however ensure they hated the Sin. If you hate the Sinner, you cannot reform him; in fact you drive him away from yourself.
If however you hate the Sin, you will not join the Sinner to commit Sin. It is not possible for a lover of Sin to punish a sinner; he will have no moral right to so do. That is why Prophets of Allah are well above board and so had the moral right to set the standard for the society.
The task of being different, not doing the evils taken as done deal by the society will not endear you to the perpetrator and the mischief makers usually stop at nothing to discredit the Prophets of Allah. Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (p.b.u.h) like those before them were lied against, some of them still has the lies hanging on the hearts of their followers till this day
Thank God for given us the Qur’an and sending the last Messenger. The combination of both cleared the lies told against the prophets of Allah.
The story of the last Messenger will make a lot of sense to you in other to see what amount of lies that could be bandied around for people not to listen to the message of reform, the message of Al-Islam.
One day Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was going somewhere at noon
It was too hot in the desert when He (S.A.W) saw an old woman
An old woman with a heavy load on her head
Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) helped her
He took the luggage from the woman and carried it for her..
Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) asked the woman where she was going and why?
She said: I am leaving this town
I have heard that a magician named Muhammad (S.A.W) is in town
As Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was very patient and kind
He (S.A.W) didn’t say a word and kept listening
The old lady kept complaining on her reason for leaving the town
In short the basic reason of her to leave the town was her misconception
Misrepresentation by the enemy about Muhammad (S.A.W)
The Person she is walking along with and she didn’t know him
Yet she believed all the lies told against him!
When they reached the destination
Muhammad (S.A.W) put down the bag and was about to leave
Then the old woman said, “O, kind person!
At least tell me your name!”
Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) replied,
“I am the person because of whom you left the town.
The old lady was amazed to hear that and said
Such a kind, helping and true person can never be wrong
And therefore she accepted Islam.
Over the ages, evil people have always worked against goodness. That is why it will be difficult to stop evil in the society. Blackmail, slander, intimidation etc is always used by the ‘powers’ that be to fight the society or any crusader or Jihadist against evil. Prophets and Messengers of Allah are no exceptions, but, the One that send these Noble personalities always come to clear them of any libel / label the society put on them that is not in tandem with Prophetic character.
Listen to how Muhammad was cleared of the slander of the infidel, hypocrite, idolaters and others that resisted the change.
