The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu was on Friday denied bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Also denied bail by Justice John Tsoho, the Trial Judge, are two other pro-Biafra agitators, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.
The Judge held that the charge against the trio is weighty as it bothers on national security and could attract severe punishment should they be convicted.
It will be recalled that Kanu and the other two defendants had pleaded not guilty to a six-count charge of treasonable felony and illegal importation of a radio transmitter preferred against them by the Federal Government.
The Director of Public Prosecution had on Monday argued against the request for bail by counsel to Kanu, positing that if granted bail, the accused could interfere with witnesses and evidence.
The trial of Nnamdi Kanu and the two other accused persons has now been fixed for the 6th to 12th of February.
