Baring last minute change of mind, the Publisher of Thisday newspapers, Nduka Obaigbena, is expected to honour the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday.
Obaigbena, who doubles as the Chairman of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), is being invited to explain why he collected the sum of N670 million from the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), allegedly from the $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase.
Prompt News recalls that in a statement earlier, Mr Obaigbena, had offered explanation on why he collected the money.
According to him, N550 million was for the loss he suffered when members o Boko Haram sect bombed the office of Thisday in Abuja.
He added that N120 million was for 12 newspapers whose operations were disrupted by the military.
It will be recalled that a media mogul and owner of Daar Communications Limited, Raymond Dokpesi, is also facing trial over N2.1 billion he allegedly collected from the former NSA.
