National U-17 women soccer team, Flamingos Friday in Abuja, lost their first test match against Fulsa Academy Boys team.
The encounter was at the instance of Flamingos Chief Coach Bala Nkiyu to assess his players’ readiness for the FIFA U- 17 Women’s World Cup Africa qualifier return leg match billed for Namibia next Friday.
The boys who were clearly the stronger team scored early in the match played at the artificial pitch of the Goal Project even as the girls put up good resistance to stem the onslaught of their opponents.
Although Fulsa scored a second goal to make it two nil, Flamingos’ captain Rashidat Ajibade however scored from the penalty spot to reduce the tally.
But another goal in the early minutes of the second half ensured Fulsa Academy won the tie 3-1.
Speaking after the match, Coach Nkiyu commended his girls for stepping up against the boys team.
