Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested two suspects in connection with an attack on vigilante operatives and the subsequent burning of their office in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspects were apprehended at about 1:40am on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in the NEPA area of Jos North by troops of Sector 1 of the joint security operation.

The Media Information Officer of Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Chinonso Oteh, confirmed the arrests while speaking to journalists in Jos on Wednesday.

Oteh said the suspects were arrested following allegations linking them to the assault on vigilante personnel and the destruction of their office by fire.

“The arrest followed allegations linking the suspects to the attack on vigilante personnel and the subsequent setting ablaze of their office,” he said.

He disclosed that the suspects remained in custody for further investigation and necessary action.

According to him, the arrests formed part of ongoing efforts by the security task force to curb criminal activities and sustain peace across Plateau State.

Oteh assured residents that troops would intensify operations to identify and apprehend individuals whose activities threatened public safety and security.

He also urged members of the public to assist security agencies by providing credible information that could help prevent criminal activities and facilitate the arrest of suspects.

“We call on members of the public to cooperate with the military and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing criminal activities and apprehending suspects,” he said.

The military spokesman stressed that public cooperation remained essential to maintaining peace and security across the state.

In a related development, troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested a suspected fake soldier in Jos North on Monday over alleged phone snatching and public disturbance.

Confirming the incident, Oteh said the arrest took place in the Jos North area, although further details were not provided in the available account.
