Armed bandits have reportedly abducted more than 10 passengers and a driver travelling from Yauri, Kebbi State, to Abuja, with a video showing the captives under the watch of gunmen circulating on social media.
The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday, October 25, although the exact location of the attack and the circumstances surrounding the abduction remained unclear as of Monday.
A video obtained by Daily Post showed the victims sitting together while one of them made a telephone call, reportedly to his mother, as an armed man pointed what appeared to be an AK-47 rifle at the group.
The footage also showed the suspected abductors directing the captives to make telephone calls to solicit ransom payments from their relatives.
However, details of the ransom demands and whether any payments had been made were not immediately available.
The video has since circulated on social media, raising concerns about the safety of the victims and their whereabouts.
The identities of the abducted passengers and the driver had yet to be established, while their current location and condition remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.
As of Monday, security agencies had not issued an official statement confirming the incident or indicating whether rescue operations had commenced.
