The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on Kosovo in a historic international friendly, marking the first-ever meeting between the two nations, Prompt News Online reports.
The proposed fixture was announced by Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Glauk Konjufca, during a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, at the commission’s headquarters on Friday.
Speaking during the visit, Konjufca also expressed Kosovo’s willingness to strengthen sporting ties with Nigeria beyond football.
“We are proposing a friendly match between the Nigeria national team and the Kosovo national team, and we are also ready to collaborate on capacity building in judo, where we have produced several world and Olympic champions,” Konjufca said, according to the NSC media department.
The friendly, once confirmed, will provide both teams with another opportunity to assess their squads ahead of upcoming international competitions.
Kosovo narrowly missed out on a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Turkey in the European qualifying playoffs.
Franco Foda’s side, however, returned to winning ways with an impressive 3-0 victory over Andorra in an international friendly last month.
For Nigeria, the encounter would offer another valuable test against European opposition as the Super Eagles continue preparations for future competitive assignments.
