            Gov Al-Makura

By Mohammed Yangida, Lafia                  Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has promised to give automatic jobs to physically challenged persons who have attained a level of education above secondary school in the state.
He ‎stated this on Thursday during the ceremony marking the 2015 International Day for people living with disability held at Abacha youths center Lafia, the state capital.
The governor also announced free medical care for those who are registered as people living with disability in the state.
“This is a day that we should think inward and find ways and means of making life worthwhile, a day to also ask ourselves what can we extend to the next person be him disabled or not,” he asked.
The Governor further explained that people in the past tried to shortchanged the policy but with the special creation of a ministry ‎of Special Education in the state, government will get all categories of people living with disability registered and give them an identification for free medical care.
Al-makura also said that his government accords top premium to people living with disability, saying “Since assumption of office in 2011, three centres have so far being established for disable person across the three senatorial zones in the state, adding “ I assured the centres shall soon be opened.”
He therefore, appealed government at all levels to ensure the inclusiveness of disabled persons in their plan and policies.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Special Education, Science and Technology, Mohammed Idris, promised to explore avenue that will better the lives of people living with disability in the state.
