The Nigeria Football Federation has disowned comments credited to Ahmad Mua’zu Kawu in an online publication on Thursday suggesting that the Federal Government is not paying attention to the preparation of the National Teams for major competitions.
A miffed NFF President Amaju Pinnick discredited the statements, saying the Federal Government has shown care and concern about the National Teams and that President Muhammadu Buhari has been a great father to all the sports, football inclusive.
A statement by Assistant Director Communications, Ademola Olajire, quoted Mr. Pinnick as saying “Alhaji Kawu does not speak for the Nigeria Football Federation; he has never been our spokesperson by any guise and under any circumstance. We disown his statements in their entirety.
“The Chairman of the NFF Media and Publicity Committee remains Hon. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande. We dissociate ourselves from Kawu’s reckless comments.”
Pinnick disclosed that the tenure of the Boards of the Leagues, under which umbrella Kawu became Member of the NFF Executive Committee, has expired.
“The tenure of the Boards of the Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women Football League and the Nigeria Nationwide League has come to an end. Alhaji Kawu is no longer a Member of the NFF Executive Committee.”
