By Harry Awurumibe The General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi is optimistic that the national U- 23 team will pick a ticket to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio d Jenairo, Brazil.
He expressed confidence in Coach Samson Siasia’s handled team to perform well in the African U- 23 Nations Cup which will kick-off in Senegal this Saturday.
Nigeria is in the same group with Mali, Egypt and Algeria. Dream Team will tackle Eagles of Mali on Sunday before facing Egypt and Algeria.
But NFF scribe insists that Siasia and his boys are capable of going all the way to the final of the competition.
“I am very optimistic that Dream Team will do well in Senegal. I have no doubt in my mind that Siasia will do a good job.
“He has experience in youth football. For us in the NFF, his team is motivated well enough to do Nigeria proud in Senegal, Sanusi told Prompt News in Abuja.
According to the experienced sports administrator, Nigeria can not afford to miss the Olympic Games ticket, adding that all hands are on deck to ensure that Siasia and his boys are in good frame of mind to deliver the goods in the championship in Senegal.
Meanwhile, Sanusi has continued to appeal to those holding the aged mother of Coach Siasia hostage to please release her on compassionate ground as her son is bringing joy to Nigerians in football.
Said he “l am begging those holding madam Siasia to please set her free so that her son will be in good spirit to do his national assignment well for the good of all Nigerians.”
