The President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ibrahim Musa Gusau has inaugurated the Electoral and Electoral Appeals Committees of the federation following their constitution at last week’s NFF Emergency Extraordinary General Assembly (AGA) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
The inauguration ceremony personally performed by Gusau, who is also the WAFU B Zone President, took place at the NFF Secretariat’s Conference Room in Abuja.
He admonished the two committees to take their assignments seriously and deliver on the mandate given to them, adding that both committees have a life span of four years.
Gusau stated that the democratisarion of the NFF has brought stabilisation in the football house, arguing that before 2006, the NFF had unstable tenure but has been stabilised as it has conducted six election circles.
The NFF boss, therefore, tasked the 12-member Electoral Committee and Appeal Committee
appointed from across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria to ensure a free, fair and transparent election later in the year.
Prompt News reports that seven members will serve on the Electoral Committee, comprising five full members—including a chairperson, vice chairperson and three others—and two alternates.
The Electoral Appeals Committee will consist of five members, with three full members and two alternates.
The Electoral Committee is mandated to oversee and conduct the electoral process in line with the provisions of the NFF Statutes (March 2026 edition) and the Electoral Code (March 2026).
It will handle all responsibilities related to organizing, managing and supervising elections during the Congress.
