Tension in Oluyole as Party Leaders, Others Demand Cars Ahead of 2027 Poll

Political tension is brewing in Oluyole Federal Constituency as several party leaders, APC members and influential stakeholders are allegedly demanding personal luxury cars from the House of Representatives member representing the constituency, Honourable Tolulope Akande- Sadipe

The development follows widespread uproar over the lawmaker’s recent gesture of gifting a jeep (Lexus 300) reportedly worth over fifteen million naira (N15m) to a party leader during his 85th birthday celebration.

The presentation of the vehicle, which took place at the residence of the leader in Akilapa village has since sparked condemnations and criticism within party ranks and across the constituency.

According to sources within the party structure, many of the leaders believe that if such a high-value gift could be extended to one individual, then others who have remained loyal to the party and played strategic roles in past elections deserve similar recognition — especially as preparations gradually begin for the next general election

A local party chieftain, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “We have stood by the party through thick and thin, if the honourable member values our support and expects our votes and mobilisation efforts in the next election, then it should apply to everyone”

Insiders say, the issue is not merely about vehicle alone but about equity, loyalty rewards, and internal party cohesion. However, party leaders and political observers in the federal constituency opined that the honourable did not think deeply before gifting the car.

The Oluyole Progressive Force had described the N15m Lexus Luxury car as “absurd, misplaced, anti- Progressive and against the general interest of the masses of Oluyole.

Political analysists argued that the House of Reps member has already tarnished the image of APC in Oluyole with her reckless anti people tendencies. “Constituents are watching closely” , one analyst noted. “At a time when many communities are grappling with economic hardship, optics matter. The woman goofed badly by making such donation to an individual.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker could not be reached for comment while party officials have also remained tight-lipped

As the next election cycle approaches, all eyes remain on how the representative and party leadership will navigate the growing expectations within the ranks – balancing political loyalty, public perception and the broader interests of the Oluyole federal constituency.
