The Super Eagles finished top of Group C after  beating Uganda 3-1 in their last group game at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle made seven changes to his starting line-up with side already assured of a place in the Round of 16.

Uganda started the game brightly with forward Uche Ikpeazu proving to be a  tough customer for the Nigerian defence.

Calvin Bassey was booked after three minutes for a rash challenge.

The Super Eagles gradually seized initiative stroking the ball around with confidence.

Nigeria went in front through Paul Onuachu in the 28th minute.

Onuachu slotted the ball home from inside the box after he was set up superbly by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

It was Nigeria ‘s 150th goal at the AFCON finals.

The Super Eagles maintained their lead for the remainder of the first half.

Uganda were reduced to 10-men after substitute goalkeeper Jamal Salim was sent off for holding the ball outside the box.

Raphael Onyedika doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 63rd minute slamming home after good work from Samuel Chukwueze.

Onyedika got his second of the game four minutes later with Chukwueze also providing the assist.

Uganda pulled a goal back through Rodgers Mato 15 minutes from time.
