A 54-year-old man, Edward Ngozi Odega, has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly sexually assaulting his three daughters over several years.
Odega, who is currently in police custody, admitted wrongdoing, describing his actions as “the handiwork of the devil.”
The eldest daughter, 24, told reporters that the situation started when she was younger and that she kept silent for years out of fear and shame.
She only realised her younger siblings had also been affected when the youngest raised an alarm at school.
Another daughter, speaking off-camera, said she confided in a classmate after attending a school sensitisation programme led by CSP Temi Agbede Zuokumor.
The suspect was arrested by operatives of the Ugborikoko Division, under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Temi Agbede Zuokumor.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a video shared with journalists in Warri.
He described the case as “indeed very sad” and credited the school programme for encouraging the youngest child to report the incident.
Odega remains in police custody as investigations continue.
