The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two suspected armed robbers accused of carrying out multiple housebreaking and robbery operations within the Bauchi metropolis.
This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, who said the arrests followed a report received by operatives attached to the C’ Division Police Headquarters, Bauchi.
According to Wakil, the breakthrough came after a 30-year-old woman, Na’ima Saleh of Nursing Quarters, Muda Lawal area, reported that a suspect, identified as 19-year-old Abdulmalik Ismail of Karofin Madaki area, scaled the fence into her residence on October 22, 2025.
He reportedly entered the kitchen, armed himself with a knife, and attempted to rob her.
The victim raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to intervene and apprehend the suspect.
A Redmi mobile phone recovered from Ismail was later traced to its rightful owner, 30-year-old Sadiyya Kabir, from whom it had been stolen during an earlier robbery on October 16, 2024.
Wakil said investigations revealed that Ismail had confessed to the crime and implicated one Abubakar Saleh, aged 20, of Doya area, as his accomplice. Saleh was subsequently arrested and also confessed to participating in the robbery.
Items recovered from the suspects include one Jincheng motorcycle, two knives, and a Redmi mobile phone.
