By Mohammed Yangida, Lafia Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended the screening of 16 commissioner nominees sent by Governor Umaru Al-makura for confirmation.
Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who announced this on Monday, during plenary did not however not give further reason for the suspension.
Prompt News gathered that it may not be unconnected with non-payment of their allowances by Governor Umaru Al-Makura.
During deliberation, members argued that the screening of the nominees should put on hold until when security issue was addressed.
A member representing Kokona East Daniel Oga Ogazy also moved a motion that the screening should also be postponed until the state government approved the suspension of the State University Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma which was recommended by the house.
The motion was seconded by Muhammed Muluku a member representing Nasarawa Eggon East.
It would be recalled that last week Governor Umaru Almakura of Nasarawa State forwarded the list of 16-commissioner nominees to be appointed into the state executive council.
