Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba on Monday, dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party and its candidate, Great Ogboru against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Labour Party had in the petition asked the Tribunal to nullify the election of Mr. Ifeanyi Okowa, candidate of the PDP who was declared winner of the April 11 election and subsequently sworn in as Governor of Delta State.
In its ruling, the Tribunal however thrown out the petition for lack of merit and also ordered the Labour Party to pay each of the three respondents in the case the sum of N50, 000.
The first respondent, Governor Okowa, as well as the second and third respondents, PDP and INEC respectively are to receive N50, 000 each.
