The convoy of former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), was reportedly attacked on Friday by suspected political thugs while departing a wedding ceremony in Argungu, Kebbi State.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants, believed to be supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), were seen wearing party-branded shirts and carrying dangerous weapons.
They allegedly pelted vehicles in Malami’s convoy and hurled insults at his supporters.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident.
The attack marks the second assault on Malami’s convoy in just over a month.
A similar incident occurred along the Old NITEL Road in Birnin Kebbi during a condolence visit, heightening concerns over the increasing resort to political violence in the state.
The repeated attacks have triggered widespread reactions on social media, with commentators condemning the growing culture of thuggery and calling for accountability among political actors.
Political observers have also expressed worry that the recurring violence could erode Kebbi’s long-standing reputation for peaceful politics ahead of future elections.
