The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 72 suspects for various crimes committed between July and September 2025.
Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, disclosed this at a press briefing in Yola on Friday, noting that 57 of the suspects had already been charged to court, while 15 others remain under investigation.
According to him, the arrests were made through coordinated efforts of the Anti-Kidnapping Crack Squad, Intelligence Units, Tactical Squad, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers.
The suspects were allegedly involved in offences such as kidnapping, robbery, culpable homicide, theft, abduction, rape, and other sexual crimes.
Dankombo said operatives recovered 15 firearms, including AK-47 rifles and locally made pistols, 111 rounds of ammunition, seven vehicles, and 25 rustled cattle, which were returned to their rightful owners.
He warned officers against meddling in civil disputes such as debt recovery, tenancy disagreements, and family matters, stressing that the Police Act 2020 prohibits such interference.
