Troops of the Nigerian Army, under Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested a suspected Nigerien terrorist attempting to breach a security perimeter in Yobe State, military sources said on Monday.

The suspect, whose inability to speak any local Nigerian language raised suspicions, was apprehended by troops of the 120 Task Force Battalion in Katarko, Gujba Local Government Area.

In coordinated operations across various regions, the troops neutralised scores of terrorists, arrested several suspects, and rescued victims, according to a reliable source.

In Borno State, troops of 202 Battalion in Bama received the voluntary surrender of two individuals — a woman and a child — believed to be relatives of insurgents.

The duo reportedly escaped from the Churchur axis, a known insurgent enclave.

“The sustained military pressure is forcing many insurgents and their families to surrender,” the source said.

In Sokoto State, troops from the 8 Division Garrison engaged armed elements in a gunfight at Tsamaye and Mai Lalle villages, Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

Two militants were killed, with troops recovering three AK-47 rifles and a motorcycle.

Also in the Northwest, troops of the 1 Battalion Rear in Kebbi State foiled a cattle rustling operation in Sauna Village, Argungu Local Government Area.

The rustlers abandoned 251 cows during their escape. The animals have since been returned to their rightful owners.

Meanwhile, in Ondo State, operatives from the 323 Artillery Regiment intercepted two suspected gunrunners in Igbara-Oke, Ifedore Local Government Area.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were acting on instructions from an inmate at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.

The weapons were allegedly intended for criminal activities in Zamfara State.

In the South-South region, troops discovered a tricycle laden with approximately 200 litres of suspected illegally refined diesel along the Jeddo–Omadino axis in Warri South, Delta State.

In a related clearance operation, seven suspects were arrested at a suspected Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) hideout in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area.

Recovered items included a motorcycle, four mobile phones, and other logistics materials.

The military source reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements and maintaining internal security nationwide.
