Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has dismissed five commissioners from his cabinet, although no official explanation has been given for their removal.
Unverified sources suggest that the dismissals could be linked to concerns about under-performance over the past year.
A statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Architect Samuel Jatau, confirmed the commissioners’ removal.
The dismissed officials are Chrysanthus Dawam (Budget and Economic Planning), Noel Nkup (Youth and Sports), Jamila Tukur (Tourism and Hospitality), Obed Goselle (Science and Technology), and Sule Musa (Commerce and Industry).
Prompt News reports that both Dawam and Tukur had faced a three-month suspension last year for undisclosed reasons.
In response to the shake-up, Governor Mutfwang has appointed five new commissioners to his cabinet.
The new appointees are Sunday Alex from Bassa Local Government Area, Joyce Ramnap from Langtang South, Sylvanus Dongtoe from Shendam, Nicholas Baamlong from Qua’an Pan, and Cornelius Doeyok from Qua’an Pam.
