Mr. Laolu Akande, former spokesperson to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has dismissed rumors suggesting that the former Vice President has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) or withdrawn from political activities.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos, Akande clarified that Osinbajo remains a member of the APC and has not abandoned his political ambitions.
“There is no reason to think that he is no longer in the APC. He is still a member of the APC. If he gets an invitation to the caucus, he will be there,” Akande stated.
Osinbajo, who has maintained a relatively low profile since leaving office in 2023, has been the subject of speculation regarding his political future. His participation in the APC presidential primary in 2022, where he lost the ticket to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, further fueled such discussions.
Akande assured that Osinbajo remains active within the party and would attend meetings whenever required, adding, “To the best of my knowledge, he has not left the APC.”
Currently, Osinbajo serves in a global advisory role with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP). However, he has yet to make any public statements about his political aspirations moving forward.
