A 42-year-old man, Ogundare Anuoluwapo, was on Thursday brought before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti, charged with sexually harassing his neighbor’s wife.
Anuoluwapo, whose address was not disclosed, denied the allegations when he appeared in court.
Sgt. Alice Ojo, the prosecutor, informed the court that the incident occurred on December 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Ojo stated that Anuoluwapo persistently made sexual advances toward the complainant, Esther Sikiru, and even threatened her during his inappropriate conduct.
The charges against Anuoluwapo were said to violate Section 270(1) & (2) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor requested an adjournment to review the case file and gather witness testimonies.
In response, Anuoluwapo’s defense lawyer, Adunni Olanipekun, requested bail for her client, assuring the court that he would comply with all legal proceedings.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted bail to the defendant in the amount of N50,000, with one surety of equal value. The case was adjourned to February 20 for further proceedings.
