In light of a serious incident that occurred during the recently concluded FCT FA bye election, the Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA), Adam Mouktar Mohammed, has officially directed the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee to launch a comprehensive investigation.
He said, the step underscores the FCT FA’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and the highest ethical standards in all its activities.
Terms of Reference
The Ethics and Disciplinary Committee is mandated to:
- Investigate the Incident:
Conduct a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident, including gathering facts, testimonies, and evidence from all relevant parties.
Establish the roles and responsibilities of individuals or groups involved in the incident.
- Assess Compliance with Rules and Regulations:
Determine if any FCT FA statutes, election guidelines, or ethical codes were violated during the election process or related events.
- Recommend Disciplinary Actions:
Propose appropriate sanctions or corrective measures, if necessary, in accordance with the FCT FA Constitution and relevant regulations.
- Provide Guidance for Future Elections:
Offer recommendations to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and strengthen the integrity of future electoral processes.
Timeline
The committee is required to:
Commence Investigation: Immediately upon receiving this mandate.
Submit Interim Report: Within 14 days of this directive.
Deliver Final Report: Within 30 days, including findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations.
The Chairman spoke further, “The integrity of our association and the trust of our stakeholders depend on how we address issues of concern. This investigation is crucial not just to understand what transpired but also to reinforce the principles of accountability and fairness in FCT football governance. I urge all parties to cooperate fully with the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee in their work.
“The FCT FA will ensure that the committee is provided with the necessary resources and support to carry out its mandate effectively. Upon submission of the final report, the FCT FA Board will review the findings and take appropriate action to uphold justice and safeguard the association’s reputation.”
