The newly inaugurated chairman of the Edo State local government service commission, Hon. Damian Lawani on Wednesday resumed office along with other members of the commission with a promise to charge the narrative in line with the mandate of the state Governor, Senator Monday Okpevbholo.
At assumption of office, the chairman and members of the commission held a closed door meeting with the commission staffs with a road map and clear cut of duties for them.
Speaking shortly after the meeting with journalists, Hon. Damian Lawani said they had a rebourst meeting with the staffs were issues on training, welfare and above all elimination of ghost workers across the eighteen local government Council will take priority in their dealings
“I just resumed office as the chairman of the commission alongside with the members. And also met with the staffs of the commission to let them know our vision and mission in line with the Governor Okpevbholo vision”Edo State is Rising ” that means, things must be done differently.
” I made it clear to them that, the era of council chairmen coming to tell them , this is the number of staffs in my council is over. I can assured you guys that we will do head count from one council to the other. We need to have accurate figures or number of staffs , not by proxy. That era is gone.
” We have also told them the need for training for staffs so that we can get the best out of them , staff welfare is guaranteed for them so that they can put in their best in service delivering.
“So , in line with the mandate of the state Governor, Senator Monday Okpevbholo, we are ready here in this commission to charge the narrative. No more business as usual in our Local Government council Area.”
Hon. Damian Lawani is a lawyer, a former member of the Edo State House of Assembly, chairman, appropriation committee, and former commissioner for Youth and Sports.
