Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has presented the sum of N2,936,000,000.00 to 25,500 flood victims and vulnerable persons in the state that might have suffered devastation of the national disasters.
The Governor, who presented the cash to the beneficiaries at Government House Banquet Hall Damaturu, also supported 15,000 Small Business Owners and Starters with a cash support of N100,000.00 each to boost their income as part of his recovery and empowerment initiatives.
“Today’s occasion marks the launch of two transformative initiatives: (1) Support for 25,500 Flood Victims and Vulnerable Groups with an investment of ₦1.43 billion. We are providing financial assistance of ₦50,000 to each of the beneficiaries in support to rebuild their lives and regain stability.
“In recognition of the vital roles of Nano and small businesses in driving grassroots economic growth, we are disbursing ₦1.5 billion to support 15,000 Small Business Owners and entrepreneurs to foster financial inclusion, and stimulate local economies. Each beneficiary will receive ₦100,000 to grow their business and sustain their livelihoods. This brings to a total of over N2.93 Billion support to the beneficiaries” he said.
According to him, the initiatives is to reflect the guiding principles of his administration: to protect the vulnerable, empower our citizens, and create pathways for self-reliance and prosperity, by investing in the flood victims, vulnerable groups and small business owners to address immediate recovery needs and laying the foundation for long-term economic resilience.
Governor Buni pledged that his government would continue to provide free education, accessible and affordable healthcare delivery, technological advancement and economic incentives to empower less privileged persons for economic growth.
“I wish to assure you that government would provide all the requirements needed for the take-off of the proposed Early Childcare Development Education Centre in the state”
He further re-emphasized the government’s commitment to policy on transparency and efficiency in implementation and all other intervention programmes to promote accountability in the disbursement of all resources to the people. (Channels TV)
