Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has expressed disappointment with his team’s performance against the Amavubi of Rwanda.
Nigeria rounded up their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Rwanda in Uyo on Monday night.
The Super Eagles took the lead through Samuel Chukwueze on 59 minutes.
The Amavubi however rallied to claim maximum points with goals from Jimmy Mutsinzi and Innocent Nshuti.
“Below standard,and I feel very sad, Eguavoen said after the game.
“This result was not what we planned for. We scored and were pushing for a second goal, but, quite against the run of play, we conceded. I tried to change the formation, but it didn’t work.
He added: “These things happen on certain days, and today was one of those days. When we conceded the second goal, I made changes by introducing two strikers, yet it still didn’t work.”
