The Plateau Government has refurbished 20 out-of-service vehicles belonging to the various security agencies in the state to enhance their operations.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Samuel Jatau, presented the vehicles to the heads of the benefitting agencies on Wednesday in Jos.
Jatau.said that the vehicles were refurbished, adding that they would “enhance the timely response to security threats by the agencies.
“This initiative aims at fortifying the existing partnership between the State Government and security agencies,” he said.
He said that the decision to refurbish all the out-of-service vehicles owned by the agencies in the state was reached during one of their recent Security Council Meetings.
“At the meeting, the governor promised to provide the necessary tools to support the safety and security of citizens of Plateau.
“So, these vehicles will significantly enhance their capacity to rapidly response to emergencies,” Jatau said.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr Musa Ishaku, thanked the government for the intervention.
He assured the governor that the vehicles would be strategically deployed to maximise their impact toward securing communities in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Operation Rainbow, a state-owned security outfit, received five vehicles, the Department of State Services (DSS) seven, NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force had four each. (NAN).
