The Federal Government has named Dr. Christian Atako,as the Acting Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Prior to her appointment, Dr. Atako was Director of Education, Health and Social Services of the commission.
“The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, conveyed the President’s decision to the Chairman of NDDC Governing Board, Dr. Tarilah Tebepah, in a letter he read at the Board’s valedictory session last week,” A statement by the Commission read.
Dr. Atako’s appointment, the statement read further takes effect from August 7.
The appointment of the erstwhile Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer has expired.
Dr .Atako, one of the pioneer staffers of NDDC, was Assistant Director and Acting Head of Community and Rural Development Directorate at the inception of the Commission.
Before then, she was Assistant Director and Head of Public Affairs Department of the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission from 1995 to 2001.
