Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar-Bida, Chairman, New Niger Development Project, has assured of timely completion of Minna-Bida Road and other ongoing projects in the state.
He gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Minna, saying the project was backed by the Islamic Development Bank.
Abubakar-Bida noted that initial traffic management efforts had reduced travel time from more than two hours plus to an hour.
He added that the dual carriage way was expected to be completed within 20 months.
“Upon completion, travel time will be 25-30 minutes, facilitating easy commuting between Bida and Minna,” he said.
He disclosed that road users had commended the project’s economic impact an assured of the timely completion of ongoing projects under Gov. Umaru Bago leadership.
He noted that global best practices, highly qualified consultants, and reputable contractors were engaged to ensure quality projects delivery.
He said that the New Niger Development Project was on track, adding that local content inclusion was prioritised, as directed by the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger had in May began the reconstruction of the 84 kilometres Minna -Bida Road.
NAN reports that the previous government awarded a contract to reconstruct the road in 2020, but was abandoned after 5 per cent of work was done.
Bago recommenced the road reconstruction effort, announcing a full funding for the 84 kilometers stretch through partnerships with the Islamic Development Bank and the Abu Dhabi Foundation.(NAN)
